EPISODE 14:

Episode Fourteen shows "The Slant" viewers how to kick off their summer! First, support a good cause through the 3 Doves Foundation in our Night Shift. Then read a good book by author Paula Kamen and watch a grand play by The Silk Road Theater Company. After that, you can fall into Chicago Jazz by listening to Yoko Noge. And if you're not tired yet, how about a massage at the Cortiva Institute and an Italian Ice from Mario's Italian Lemonade stand. Whew!

 


 


EPISODE 13:

Episode Thirteen gives Connie Lee her overflow of reports! First she has a talk with Phil Lee of the Chi-Town Project. Then she makes her way to the Gene Siskel Theater for the Hong Kong Film Festival in Plus Movies. Stefanie raps with Chris Limb and talks B-Boy Battles. Then Connie comes back with the art of Eulalio Fabie De Silva. We finish up with our Mash-Up Music from the talented Aloha Lives!

 


 


EPISODE 12:

Episode Twelve features a flurry of variety. First we give you info on the Asian American Institute in our Affiliation Effect. Then Kristine digs in on Thai food at Bodhi Thai Bistro. Afterwards, our reporters (including Marco!) learn some polynesian dancing. Our Flavor of the Week continues with Nathalie at Thai Bowl. And then our Mash-Up Music features a video by Mr. Dawen Wang.

 


 


EPISODE 11:

Episode Eleven gets some stage time! First Connie interviews members of the Circa Pintig Theater Company. Then Kristine shares info on a good cause with DJ's Who Care / 3 Doves Foundation. We also sit down with Ms. Baayork Lee of A Chorus Line fame. Christine Marie checks out the Calvin Tran spot in Slant Styles. And our Mash-Up Music performance is coincidentally named, "Slant!"

 


 


EPISODE 10:

Episode Ten has the craving for Chinese food as the Flavor of the Week. Kristine starts it up by visiting Yu's Mandarin Restaurant. Then Connie gives us a Plus Movies report on a couple of indie filmmakers featured in Chicago's Asian American Showcase. Our Flavor of the Week continues at Lao Beijing. And finally, our Mash-Up Music kicks it with M.C. Jargon.

 


 


EPISODE 9:

In this Episode Nine of "The Slant," we get educated on the Asian/Asian-Americans supporting the Chicago bid for the Olympics in 2016. Then we read up on the Secret Identities comics in our Spotlight Profile. Our Night Shift takes us to Dragonfly, then we kick it with the comedian, Jo Koy. The Mash-Up musical performance is brought to us by Kris Racer.

 


 


EPISODE 8:

Episode Eight begins with the craft of writing in our Affiliation Effect on the Neighborhood Writing Alliance. Kristine sits down with artist, Laura Kina, in our Spotlight Profile. Then Stefanie gets with D.J. Euromix a.k.a. Vic Melecio on all his projects. Connie and Kristine learn some martial arts moves with Extreme Kung-Fu. A.C. has the band Bagwis for our Mash-Up music performance.

 


 


EPISODE 7:

Episode Seven starts up with your Affiliation Effect and gives you an inside scoop on the Asian-American Journalists Association (AAJA). The Night Shift brings Stefanie to Vision NightClub and the CSG crew. Kristine has our Spotlight Profile with Chien Yuan from "Actually, Records," while Connie gives us all the info on the Desi Idol singing competition. We close-up with a Mash-Up music performance from Christine Marie.

 


 


EPISODE 6:

Episode Six goes Korean for our Flavor of the Week. Connie dips into Little Brothers, while Kristine eats up at Booil Restaurant. Then we watch a day in the life of Chicago's ABC 7 News Anchor, Mr. Ravi Baichwal in our Spotlight Profile. Our Musical Mash-Up goes video gaming, as we have Spoony Bards do their covers of video game music.

 


 


EPISODE 5:

Episode Five kicks in with martial artist and actor, Hosung Pak. We then learn about the House of Suh documentary with Asian American director, Iris Shim. We continue our taste of Japanese food with Ai Sushi Restaurant and Lounge. Our A.C. talks video games with Roger Yuen, game designer, in our Tech'd Out segment. Then Chicago Tribe breakers come in and show us their moves.

 


 


EPISODE 4:

Episode Four goes into the Night Shift with Stefanie Bae at Zentra. Then the Flavor of the Week goes Japanese when Kristine visits Sushi 21 and Connie drops in at Shiroi Hana. A.C. gets an interview with the R&B group, I.B.U. And for our musical performance, we meet up with Mr. Tatsu Aoki.

 


 


EPISODE 3:

Episode 3 features a Spotlight Profile on Mr. Tatsu Aoki. We then hold a fashion show with the clothing brand, Ethnikroots. Our Connie Lee gets in-depth with the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP). The Far East Movement sits down with Stefanie Bae for our Night Shift. And our musical performance is by Parts Per Million.

 

 

EPISODE 2:

Episode Two breaks in with world reknown turn-tableist, D.J. Q-Bert. Then we show our Affiliation Effect segment with the Korean American Community Services. Our Mash-Up musical performance is by the duo, Jon & Carly. Our reporter, A.C., talks about Asian-American films in our Plus Movies. And then we close up with a Spotlight Profile on the awesome Mia Park.


 


EPISODE 1:

Episode One of "The Slant" welcomes all our viewers to what's expected to be a nice long ride in finding out about the Asian-American experience in Chicago. We introduce our Flavor of the Week segment with Hawaiian Cuisine at Aloha Grill and Skewerz. Then we do a day in the life of B96 Chicago Radio's D.J. Julian Neigh. Our other Spotlight Profile is with the comedy troupe Siblings of Doctors. And in the middle of it all is a musical performance by M.C. Robbi.
